Hey Vic, I'll have to dig out the old laptop and see what the touch pad looks like. I'd see if you can find a replacement unit online and do a straight swap.

Thank you so much Ken. It's yet another year beyond the last post and I am yet another happy reader. This has been so helpful. I want to change the memory as well and I was getting two conflicting pieces of informtion from the sites I want to buy memory from. So after looking at your site, I can see that I have two DIMM slots and I can upgrade up to 2G. I will just do the external DIMM at the moment whic is empty. 1Gb extra from 512Mb will do for the moment.

Thanks again

PS: I am also suffering the slowness. It makesme feel better to know that this is normal for this machine.

That'll be awesome thank you! My dvd drive is coming from America and I live in the UK so it'll take a while to reach me. How did your W1N pack up? I bought mine in summer 2004 and it's still working well now, albeit a bit slow and with the fan running all the time!!!!! It's rather annoying. Anyway I'm thinking of getting another smaller laptop anyway, but I'd like to get everything clean and working on this Asus, perhaps upgrade it a bit, restore it back to factory setting and then keep it as a spare toy ^^ Extra pictures would be very useful! Thanks!

Haha, glad I could be of some help!! Just to update the post a little, the 2nd miniPCI slot does actually work! Just not sure about the antennas. My W1N finally kicked the bucket a few months back so maybe I'll venture back into it and and take some more pictures.

I realise that this post was made years ago, but I have the exact same laptop and I'm finding this very useful :) Too bad my dvdrw drive has packed up though, so I've ordered a new one to see if I can replace the old one as well as clearing out the dust, redoing the thermal paste and upgrading the ram! I haven't opened it up since I had it for 5 years!
Thanks!

How do you like the MAHA-C9000 Charger? I recently switched to Eneloops after my 6 month old Energizer batterys started to loose their capacity.
