Anyone who uses Firefox and does Javascripting will know what I’m talking about. If this is not for you, then here, check this out.
I LIKED the old version of the Javascript Console! Ever since 1.5, the Javascript Console isn’t really… the Javascript Console… In fact, it shouldn’t even be CALLED the Javascript Console anymore.
uh.
What I mean is that since 1.5, the Javascript Console has started including CSS and XUL errors in the console as well as the Javascript ones. Now that might be great for web developers and all, but the least they could have done was had options for you to choose what errors you want to see, not group them all together.
Well, there’s an answer to this. Console². This little extension REPLACES the Javascript Console (and rightly renames it to Error Console too!), and gives you the ability to choose your language of choice. You have CSS, JS, XUL and ALL. It even gives you the ability to track errors in the chrome (which is beyond me but good for Firefox devs I’m sure).
Give it a try. Looks pretty promising to me!

The great thing about Skype is that it’s pretty easy to take it with you on a USB drive of your choice. However, if you can’t bring it with you, then the next best thing is to have an answering machine forward messages to you!
Orb Networks has a great little beta called V4S (Voicemail 4 Skype) which runs on your PC and will answer your calls, record the messages for you and allow you to access them from anywhere with an Internet connection! And what’s really great is that it FREE!! Gotta love the sound of that!
The messages stay on your PC but you access them via their web interface which gets the little client program to stream the audio to you. You also have the option of having V4S email you with or without the audio as an attachment or SMS you (US only), with a text message when you have voicemail.
One other thing that I found to be a nice touch was that if for some reason your Skype gets disconnected, the web interface gives you a link to click which gets the client to reconnect your Skype! COOL!
My only beef with the program is that it adds an icon to the toolbar on Skype which unfortunately isn’t very intelligent. It’s set to be an x amount of space away from the edge of the application at all times so if you have your Skype window thin like I do, then the icon sits over top other Skype buttons. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future release.
Overall, great job Orb!

So I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday and I hope you all the best in the New Year to come
I’m sure everyone has taken a bunch of digital photos this holiday with more to come and so I figured I would post a few links to places where you can get them printed.
BestBuy: They are currently offering 2 promotions. Upon signing up, you get 10 free 4×6 prints with the coupon code 10FREE and as a boxing week special, you can get 10 more 4×6 prints at the cost of only 10 cents each with the code 10cents!
ShutterFly: An ongoing promotion they have is 15 free prints upon signing up. I can personally vouch for these guys too since my sis got a few pictures from them and they turned out really nice. In a comparison between oFoto, ShutterFly and Snapfish. ShutterFly came out top with best packaging and photo quality.
For pricing, both are 19 cents per print at 4×6 but the best buy one is in CDN and ShutterFly is USD. I have also gotten prints from Superstore and they turned out fairly well, I can’t remember the price anymore but quality was good as well.
If anyone has any comments on other locations like London Drugs, Costco, etc. Please post them up

I realize this might be a little bit late for anyone looking to buy a PSP for someone else, but here’s something to consider.
As you may or may not know, the PSP can be hacked (in a good way), depending on the version on the firmware. Anything above v2.0+ cannot be hack (so far..) so if the recipient of the PSP loves to tinker with his/her toys then you most definitely want to make sure you find a PSP that’s still got the old version on it.
So how do you tell?
PSPHacks.net has a great article on how you can determine the version from the UPC code on the box! (See below for the chart)
While on the topic of hacking your PSP, here’s a promising new shell that will be out in time for Christmas!
A-1.50
B-1.51
C-1.52
D-2.00 Unconfirmed
E-2.00 Unconfirmed (likely 1.52)
F-2.00
G-2.01

Rumours floated around about Dell possibly releasing a 30″ widescreen LCD which was to be better than Apple’s Cinema display. Well, looks like out dreams have finally been confirmed!
This bad boy will have the same resolution as its Apple counterpart at 2560 x 1600, but will have a better contrast ratio of 700:1 over Apple’s 400:1, a refresh rate of 11ms over 16ms, and 400cd/m2 brightness over 270.
Considering that the Apple 30″ display is $2,999.00CDN, I would imagine that the Dell would come in a little bit lower at around $1,700CDN. (Based on the fact that Dell’s 24″ LCD is $1,299.00 and Apple’s 23″ LCD is $1,549.00…) Here’s hoping!!
I expect that this will be officially shown at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show on Jan 5th so it won’t be long now!!

Man, everyone’s buying everyone out these days. Seagate and Maxtor have both been good brands to me and both have powerful market share so this merger will definitely be something to talk about.
Seagate will retain it’s name as the new company so bye bye Maxtor!

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford one. And those of us who can, don’t always know what to do with the old ones or have no use for them anymore. Well, that’s where the Computer Donation Project comes in.
I heard about this on the news today and since I know there are many of us out there that have extra hardware or computers sitting around, that this would be the ideal way of giving them a 2nd life.
Check out the link above to get an idea of what the project is and if you have anything to donate, you can contact the man in charge at yvrtechdonation@gmail.com.
